A Keiki's Dream Program will provide a "dream come true" for children in crisis. We accept referrals of appropriate children, ages 4-15 years old, who are full-time residents of Maui County and who are referred. Only professionals working with children in Maui County can refer children to A Keiki's Dream Program. (click here for current list of partners)

In order to coordinate services for Dream Children who are referred to A Keiki's Dream Program, and to ensure that each child is allowed to dare to dream, we ask that persons making referrals follow these guidelines:

A. Refer the neediest and most appropriate children from their caseloads that have not previously had a dream granted by AKD. B. Refer children on the basis of need rather than merit (e.g. for academic achievement)

C. Submit both referrals and consent forms, making sure that all appropriate parties sign off (e.g. parent, social worker, GaL, foster parent, etc.)

D. Reinforce the program messages to the child(ren) you refer.

E. Refer siblings seperately so each child has the chance to define and enjoy his/her own dream.

F. Not make any promises or determine the child's dream ahead of time.

G. Indicate on the referral form if you want to participate in the child's dream interview.

H. Inform AKD if a child needs to be prioritized or if siblings should recieve a "Family Dream".
